    Die Z 5 ist eine wirklich durchdachte und perfekte Kamera, die voll meinen Ansprüchen im privaten Bereich genügt.
    Die Bedienung und das Handling sind einfach klasse,
    die Bildqualität auch. Leider war die Menuesprache nur Englisch, das geht aber voll ok!

    Après 4 mois d'utilisation je suis un peu déçu de ce camescope, à ne pas utiliser pour des projets professionnels. Il gère très mal la lumière et n'a pas un bon rendu image. Cette appareil pour moi reste dans le cadre familial. Pas plus. De plus le poids par rapport à l'attache du trépied est très mal réparti, la camera à tendance à pencher vers l'arrière sur un trépied normal.

    good but up to certain extinct

    I bought this from other source about 8months ago. It works really good for social ceremonial videos but for professional works it has some problems such as you cant adjust audio level during recording or if u recording in tripod for a long time in a fixed frame and then suddenly if any charecter moves from in front of camera
    then automatically camera jerks and I have not solve the problem yet.

    The English language instruction leaflet is minimal, the on screen instruction are in Chinese.
    It is not an "intuitive" piece of equipment to use, and the "driver" disc won't install on my computer, took it back to the shop I bought the camera from, (NOT this website), they tried the disk in their computer and it worked for them.
    But the camera certainly was a "bad buy" for me.

    For serious consumer shooting.

    Very noisy build in stereo mic. For serious recordings you really should connect an external (optional) microphone.

    Lens is excelent for outdoor shooting but I should say average for indoor shooting (theater light).

    This is a great little charger that fits neatly into any travel bag/case.
    I was sick and tired of waiting for the big 2 and 4 bay chargers to cycle through one battery at a time and having those noisy fans running all night!
    This charger plugs straight into the side of the battery and is noisless.

    I purchased two of these batteries for an HD XD Cam shoot (PDW-800) I had used smaller batteries (BPL -95 Sony) on previous occasions and found when shooting a full day of HD I could use up to 5 or 6 batteries on a big day! Since using the Globalmediapro "BIG" batteries, I have shot up to 5 full disks, over 200 minutes record time on one battery!!
    If you have the radio-mic bracket on the back of your camera these batteries still fit in.

    If you look at the videosignal from the camera, it looks fantastic.
    The Exmor chip is good, BUT the compression using long GOP Mpeg2 is horrible!
    I will not recommend this camera, the picture quality is to low!

    General short review

    After use of a Sony PD170 Pro camcorder, I moved on to this one, which has been on the market for a few years now. Overall, I have found it excellent. The 1/4 inch CMOS imaging devices might seem disappointing, rather than 1/3inch. but in practice, Sony's image processing does an excellent job with no loss of resolution. Some reviews have suggested setting the sharpness control which gives between 0 and 15 at about 3 to avoid any video noise, but I have found that even at about 8 (factory setting is 7), it is free from noise, though when using progressive scan it can occasionaly show slight noise. Both progressive scan and interlaced give excellent and needle sharp performance with wide dynamic range. I personally do not like cinematone gamma when set to "on", as shadows are too dark. Colour is great, rich and deep. Sound is OK, though I have bought a Rode mike, and it is of course not stereo. Overall, in my view an excellent camcorder for keen amateurs or pro users on a small budget or needing a resonably small unit.

    If one is looking for an alternative in the way of a Studio Condenser Microphone, then Globalmediapro MCS-5VB fits the bill pefectly.
    This condenser microphone does a decent job in my home recording
    studio and would recommend as an affordable unit that produces good sound quality for BV's and Solo Artists in any recording session.

    fabulous ergonomics, that where it stops

    I purchased the Hm700 for docco work, I attached the Letus 1/3" relay and Extreme adaptor hoping to get some fabulous 35mm look film..
    However the Hm700 is tragic in any low light scenario, and has a very average picture..
    The Canon A1 I have is over 3 years old and still performs as good...
    The only thing going for the 700 is the wow factor, when you pull it out of the case in corporate situations...SDHC cards are the way to go, this workflow is amazing..
    Don't get me wromg, it is a great camera all round with great controls and features but even being a 1'3" chip, it falls short in many critical areas...

    Would I buy another one...NO I would not...

    For the price this is a great little gadget to be able to move from tape based capture to memory card. I have a Canon XHA1 HDV camera and a Panasonic DVX102B SD camera. Both cameras can capture to the card (32 gig Kingston 266x) but the card must be formated to each file system. It won't accept HD and SD on the same card. The capture can be instigated by either the camera or the recorder through the firewire connection. This is useful if you are some distance from the camera allowing you to start and stop capture with the recorder. HD capture is in m2v format only but Premiere reads these files without problem. Dumping the video to computer is simple and quick using a Compact Flash card reader. Sure beats waiting an hour or so to transfer the tape to hard drive. The unit is light enough to mount on the camera hot shoe or the tripod with the use of a longer cable. This model may have been discontinued for some reason so firmware updates may no longer be available.
    Delivery very quick within 5 days... overall very happy.

    Quite a nice experience. I only wasn't very impressed by the fact I had to make a bank transfer for the funds and I had to wait for 4-5 days for this payment to be received by your side. That's a waste of time... and a scary experience as well: after 3 days, I had some doubts: "Is it really a legit business? Why does it take so much time for them to receive my money and to acknowledge it?"

    I understand taking credit cards can be a hassle for a business, but I would appreciate if you could at the very least offer a paypal option. The difference would be significant in the sense you could receive the funds immediately and ship the order the same day... That would be much better for paranoid people like me (For I have been victim of Internet fraud by the past).

    I did not see the essential EXP LOCK button from the HX-A1 camera on the new XF300/305. This button is necessary to instantly lock the exposition (aperture/speed) on the current values. According to Canon, if you work in manual focus, it is possible to lock the speed at the current value but with a more complex manipulation (that will shake the camera). I think this is a serious lack.
