Awesome Low Light

By from Perth, Western Australia on
I have just sold my two HMC82's (bought from here in Feb 2011) and replaced them with 2 x AC130's
If you are used to a shoulder mount then this is a tricky camera to get used to but the big lens and sensors make up for it..it is awesome in low light! Where the HMC82's had an open iris and 6db of gain indoors the 130 is sitting at a comfortable F4 or F5.6!! I have "converted" mine into "shoulder-mount" with a simple aluminium rail and shoulder pad and then put a Hoodman loupe on the LCD..works like a dream!!! You need to get used to switching in ND filters manually if you shoot outdoors and in bright sunlight you will need a 1/64 selection to keep the F stop at a reasonable level...very sensitive chips!!!
This is the first camera I have seen that actually has area focus and iris (like spot exposure on a still camera) This is a great feature and allows much more accurate exposure..the other neat feature is you can still treak exposure and focus in auto mode!!! The dual slots are very useful two as I do weddings so that provides me with a backup card in case one fails.
I bought mine before the 120's came out and they would have been even better as I don't use the reat EVF at all.

Pretty happy overall and great service as usual from GMP
