Tapeless, file based video acquisition has widely become accepted as a replacement for out-dated tape based systems.

Recording times are far longer than for traditional tape, there are no drop-outs and using Datavideo's Direct to Timeline technology, you will speed up the process from acquisition to editing, thanks to file transfer, rather than traditional capturing.

The Datavideo DN-60 utilizes the latest solid state technology of removable and high-capacity CF memory cards, providing hours of continuous high definition recordings, enabling you to take advantage of tapeless acquisition in even the toughest environments.

The DN-60 is powered using four traditional AA batteries, or widely available rechargable AA batteries. A set of batteries providing more than two hours continuous recording, depending on the type of battery used.

Also included is an external power supply. The Datavideo DN-60 connects directly to your existing DV or HDV camcorder via a single FireWire cable.

The DN-60 is lightweight and easy to mount to camcorders. It is perfect for news gathering, location shoots, security systems, scientific and medical recording.

Very good recorder. I'm using with a Sony DSR 250 without problems. With a 32 Giga Card I can record more than 1 hour in AVI format. No frames loss. The life of the rechargeable AA 2500mA battery is incredible long. I am very satisfied of my Datavideo. Regards...

At first .... I'm glad that the shippment is very qucikly and then I found difficult to connect to my Canon XH A1, but finally I can find the solution that I must activated the AVC command in my Canon XH A1 and it works ....now I can take video in tapeless so I don't have to sell my old camcorder.

Datavideo DN-60 Review

For the price this is a great little gadget to be able to move from tape based capture to memory card. I have a Canon XHA1 HDV camera and a Panasonic DVX102B SD camera. Both cameras can capture to the card (32 gig Kingston 266x) but the card must be formated to each file system. It won't accept HD and SD on the same card. The capture can be instigated by either the camera or the recorder through the firewire connection. This is useful if you are some distance from the camera allowing you to start and stop capture with the recorder. HD capture is in m2v format only but Premiere reads these files without problem. Dumping the video to computer is simple and quick using a Compact Flash card reader. Sure beats waiting an hour or so to transfer the tape to hard drive. The unit is light enough to mount on the camera hot shoe or the tripod with the use of a longer cable. This model may have been discontinued for some reason so firmware updates may no longer be available.
Delivery very quick within 5 days... overall very happy.
