Truly portable at last

I have had "portable" computers since the first time they appeared. I
remember a Panasonic luggable with a built-in printer - that was useful
for an Olympic weight-lifter in training. Even today's laptops are heavy
to carry around. But the Acer Aspire One AOA 150 truly is portable,
without sacrificing any capability. It does not have Vista, thank
goodness, and has perfectly adequate storage. I do not like to load my
files onto a machine I will carry around, for security reasons - theft
can be a problem, or forgetfulness. So I have upgraded the Windows XP
Home to XP Professional to use all the capability of Remote Desktop, and
use Logmein.com to access the files. I carry a separate USB stick with
any core files (encrypted) in case WiFi the connection is down or
Microsoft forcibly reboots my base computer with a security "fix." The
little Acer is all I need, and contrary to many others, I like the
touchpad compromise.
