For the price this is an excellent unit. I have used it professionally for 5 years and it just keeps getting smoother. I also bought 2 of these for my students and it performs very well for inexperienced users as well. The quick release spring isn't strong enough but even if you forget to push it all the way home your camera will not be at risk but you may ruin a shot. I have searched far and wide & found nothing else comparable, even at 2x the price - Yours Faithfully - Ray

I purchased this tripod to use with my hi def camera.
the bowl head makes it simple and quick to set up.
especially handy when you are on a shoot and have to move around a lot to keep up with all the action.
