Compact, normal zoom lens with a wide zooming range. Weighing only 375 g, it is easy to carry around. Its two-step lens extension prevents the lens from obstruction the built-in flash's coverage. Also, with multiple lens groups moving during zooming, excellent delineation is obtained at all focal lengths.

With my new Canon 5D mark 2 I found the lens just filled the gap below my longer Canon lens 75 - 300mm.
I have not ever found any problems with Canon lenses, however, I have learnt that Canon EF S lenses do NOT fit my new full frame Canon. So, I can only use my excellent Canon 68mm Macro with my Canon 450D camera. I can live with that.

Problems:
Canon phone helpline was remarkably unhelpful. They took a few days to answer the question re fitting Canon EF and EF S lenses
